PROJECT CONTEXT

Modernization and expansion of production capacity at the Ba Glass Romania (Stirom) glass factory.

CHALLENGE

Architectural survey through ground and aerial scanning.

Arhidrona was contracted to perform aerial scanning of tall, hard-to-reach structures where tripod-based laser scanning couldn’t reach or where the action itself would jeopardize the safety of fellow architects.

SOLUTION

We scanned several key structures within the factory premises for a total of 14 hours, collected the data provided by the drone, and input it into the calculation program, resulting in RGB point clouds and, consequently, 3D renderings.

This action generated precise measurements, forming the basis for the architectural survey.

PROJECT CONTEXT

A single-family home located in Ilfov, built 6 years ago, with no roof maintenance interventions.

CHALLENGE

The owner desired a visual inspection of the roof, with a particular focus on the chimney.

SOLUTION

We flew the drone for approximately 30 minutes, during which we captured high-resolution photos to observe any details of deterioration. Following a complete 360° rotation, we identified deficiencies in the chimney that lead to water infiltration during heavy rainfall.

PROJECT CONTEXT

A duplex house built 9 years ago with no roof maintenance interventions.

CHALLENGE

The owners wish to install photovoltaic panels on the roof, so they considered a visual drone inspection necessary before contracting the company that installs the photovoltaic systems.

SOLUTION

We flew the drone for approximately 1 hour, during which we took multiple high-resolution 6K photos to observe any details of roof covering deterioration.

Fortunately, we found the roof to be in quite good condition even after nearly a decade since the construction was completed.

Landscaping project for a courtyard in the city of Iasi.

CHALLENGE

Creating a topographic plan and architectural survey necessary for planning the future landscaping project.

SOLUTION

We conducted a 2-hour drone scan of the entire garden area, collected the data provided by the drone, and input it into the calculation program, resulting in 3D point clouds, renderings, the Digital Surface and Terrain Model (DSM & DTM) containing contour lines, and ultimately, the orthophotoplan in TIFF format for import and scaling in any CAD program.

PROJECT CONTEXT

A single-family house in the city of Iasi, whose aged tiled roof was in an advanced state of deterioration. What initially began as a simple visual aerial inspection with a drone turned into a much larger project for replacing the roof covering.

CHALLENGE

Upon seeing the photos resulting from the visual drone inspection, the owner asked us if we could handle the management of this project. Considering our background as architects, we accepted the challenge without hesitation.

SOLUTION

We conducted a 2-hour drone scan of the house and garden, collected the scan data, and input it into the computer. The 3D point clouds allowed for precise measurements of distances and roof surfaces with near millimeter accuracy. We aimed to obtain the best price offer from a specialized roofing company with a minimum 2-year labor warranty and 30-year material warranty, so we contacted several companies, sent them the measurements, and requested quotes for this work.

After the owner chose one of the offers, signed the contract, and paid the deposit, things went smoothly, and without boasting, we can say that thanks to the quality of the drone-acquired data that resulted in precise measurements, there were no price differences between the initial offer and the final invoice.

Reconstruction of a residential street in Lifov County.

CHALLENGE

Creating a topographic plan and digital elevation model necessary to identify areas where water accumulates during heavy rainfall.

SOLUTION

We conducted a 2-hour drone scan of the road section slated for reconstruction, collected the drone-provided data, and input them into a dedicated calculation program on the computer. The result was the Digital Surface and Terrain Model (DSM).

Compared to traditional measurement methods with a total station, we can say that we were 20 times faster in capturing raw data and approximately 5 times faster in delivering the data for project development.
